They say they want to have nuclear power for their citizens. They've never once said they want to use it for weaponry - Israel is the 5th biggest nuke power in the world. Surely, if Iran even did make weapons - they would pose no real threat to Israel who could still flatten them with waves of nuclear strikes if they were ever messed with.
The whole thing is an excuse for warpigs to expand their lying take over of the world.

We have practiced something like 1/3 of the force deployed at a time for a while now. 1/3 preparing to deploy, 1/3 returning from deployment and 1/3 deployed -this is obviously a gross generalization but still a rough estimate of how the troops have been used. To keep the forces we have around the world AND attack Iran would thrust us wholly into a world war mode. It would be 'us against them' in a way most people couldn't even imagine.
To take Hunt's suggestion and start dropping bombs - well, I don't know if we should. It's not politically astute right now and Israel will do it whether or not we get involved. Israel smart bombed Iraq under Saddam and the retaliation for that was that Palestine was flooded with suicide bombers - This time the consequences would be much more harsh but if Israel took action and was threatened, I think we would be a lot more justified in engaging Tehran on their soil. Remember that our cold war policy was to absorb the first strike, if Israel is willing to take hits to achieve a long range goal, then they would absorb an attack to justify world intervention on its behalf. (Not that Israel gives a damn about world opinion but they know the US does)
Having said that...
If you suppose that the stretegic objective is to attack our enemies on their soil to keep them far from our homeland and disabled WRT their capacity to attack us, then bombing Iran or sending in troops without the intention to take the entire nation and restructure it is pointless - we'd just be stirring up the hornet's nest and encouraging them to attack us here.
Right now we are engaging Iranians in Iraq - why not let them keep coming to us there?

In case you missed it Ahmadinejad did say he wanted to destroy Israel and the US, this will help bring about the 12th Imam or the Mahdi (muslim messiah).
To bring about the Mahdi's return he must threaten Israel into signing a 7 year treaty.
